Siemens 4 SAP

Get the most out of your PLM and ERP integration

As a leading provider of product lifecycle software and digital transformation with expertise in mechanics, electronics and software development, Siemens Digital Industries Software is an innovation and technology leader in industrial automation and digitalization.

SAP is the world's leading provider of enterprise application software and end-to-end supply chain solutions, from product design to operations. Built on a digital platform that offers a fully intelligent enterprise with the world's largest business network.

The interface at the heart of your digital company

Through the strategic partnership between Siemens and SAP, they significantly improve the time-to-value. You can also design products with real-time supply chain and create a sustainable product development process and a single digital thread

The common goal: Reducing the effort involved in mapping

Both companies, Siemens and SAP, want to use their partnership to better integrate the existing process chains in the future. So far, the connection between Teamcenter and the SAP Business Suite has primarily existed. In the future, the PLM world from Siemens is to be seamlessly integrated into the ERP environment so that the effort involved in the interfaces is significantly reduced. One of these efforts leads to the so-called "pipeline designer" for T4ST. This already enables easy reading, writing and mapping of attributes between the two system worlds. Numerous libraries are available as standard for this purpose.

Why is the S4S bundle so important?

The combination of T4S and T4ST in a joint S4S merger combine their respective advantages and secure your future potential.

Advantages T4S

✓ Stable and complete solution

✓ Comprehensive customer service

✓ Low implementation effort

✓ Typically, no change of SAP customization needed

Disadvantages T4S

✓ SAP PEO business objects are not supported

✓ SAP public cloud is not supported

Benefits T4ST incl. PLMSI

✓ Supports SAP PEO business objects (Q4/2022)

✓ SAP public cloud read (2023+)

Disadvantages T4ST incl. PLMSI

✓ Brand new solution but with just little field experience

✓ Implementation requires SAP experience

✓ Not yet fully functional

How to deal with the existing T4S interface?

Numerous companies are already using a classic T4S interface. For many, the question arises as to whether the implemented solution is still future-proof or whether it will be replaced in the near future.

So that you can better assess your starting position, we are giving you a few facts. These are primarily aimed at existing Siemens customers:

  • The T4S license will be transferred to the S4S license at the end of 2022
  • S4S includes the license for T4S and T4ST
  • Siemens will maintain support for existing T4S implementations for at least another 10  years
  • To use the T4ST interface, an additional PLMSI license is required
  • When using a T4ST, the Pipeline Designer interface is used
  • Siemens will not force any customer to switch from T4S to T4ST. It remains just a recommendation for now!
